3 layer Batik Mask, silk middle layer

We add a layer of silk between the two layers of 100% cotton(exclusive of thread). This is a fabric facemask as recommended by the latest research for reducing exposure to the novel corona virus. This mask will *not* prevent exposure – it will only reduce it. The mask contains a 3/16″ wide bendable metal nosepiece to give a closer fit. The nosepiece is contains nickel, but there are at least 2 layers of fabric between the metal and skin. 1/4″ black elastic ties can be used behind the head/neck,or behind the ears. Ties are tacked into sleeves to allow gathering for a better fit. Long term, the sleeve design for the ties allows easier replacement of the ties should the elastic fatigue. We use a box pleat pattern because we feel it gives a better fit.
On request, any of our masks can be made with green latex-free elastic. On these masks, it is standard.
There is some variation in the mask size. Please use the comments at check out to tell us the size of the person for whom this mask is intended. We have a diagram for the relevant measurements Also if you have an end-color preference, please indicate that as well, as this is a pre-order listing – add a week to the delivery time. Additional end colors available- Red, Darker Green, lighter purple.
This is a 3-layer mask. It’s designed to inhibit the flow of air. You’ll need to be able to breathe deeply to be able to use it. If your lung function is impaired and you cant take a deep breath, this may not be the mask for you.
Machine was gentle in a lingerie bag. You can use hot water, but it is the soap the kills virus. The lingerie bag helps cushion the metal nosepieces. You can put them in the dryer – the fabric is preshrunk. However, they will last longer washed and dried by hand.
